CONFLICT MITIGATION STRATEGIES IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK CONVERSATIONS

Abstract

This research work investigates how the speakers of English and Uzbek speakers manage several kinds of threatening acts and conflicts in everyday communication. This study and its solutions are highly attached to the pragmatic mechanisms such as indirectness, politeness strategies and emotional modulations. Therefore, the research explores how speech acts function within the scope of intercultural communication, with a particular emphasis on the linguistic and cultural interactions between Uzbekistan and English-speaking environments. It substantially highlights the differences in communicational styles, especially in the resolving of solving conflicts. The findings indicate that Uzbek speakers tend to employ indirect and polite forms of expression and relies more heavily on implicit meaning and relational sensitivity, influenced by collectivist values and social hierarchy and conventions. Simultaneously, English speakers often apply more direct and explicit communication, reflecting the norms of low-context cultures and tends to maintain clarity through moderated indirectness. By comparing conversational patterns in both languages, the paper reveal that communicative behavior is closely connected to traditional rituals. According to the compiled ramification it is highlighted that the importance of pragmatic awareness in avoiding misapprehensions and enhancing intercultural interaction.
